Just flew back to Savannah. I felt compelled to post even thought tomorrow, I have a 8am class. (Right now its 4am) Its been a fun Spring Break where I played some games (DOTA 2 in particular) and watch some movies (A Thousand Words, Hunger Games and John Carter) which I highly recommend and then I did some work. I'm currently listening to Chopin and have recently took time to start sketching again. In particular, a weird weird story with weird weird drawings in weird weird situations. Let's see if I can keep this up till the end of the quarter.

Spring Break~~
Voila, I am late on my update. A thousand apologies. Right now I am at Dallas enjoying a small "holiday" getaway. Despite it being school break, I still have lots of work to do due to my epic failure to finish all these tasks. First off, I've completed my Agent Frank comic for the GAME OVER anthology which we got 343% funded! The second comic, (tentatively titled: turning heads) did not see much success. Though I've somewhat finish the inking portion of the comic, it is still not of a "finished" quality. I'll have to go back and work on it during this break. Also, I've picked up a job ( I don't even know if these are jobs anymore, its more like volunteer work, but fun and great for practice nevertheless) for storyboarding which will be published somewhere, sometime hopefully.
Things are going on in a slower pace but it'll probably jump into high gear next week. Also, I've gotten the tickets to this year's San Diego's Comic Convention. Preview Night + Four Days. I'm considering going to CTN at the end of the year though its mostly impossible as it'll be a back to back schedule with my flight back to Singapore. So much to do, so little time.

Crunch Time
Wish I have more time for this. Will have to come back and re-do it. Sorry for the lack of updates, its crunch time right now. I have a few new "jobs" coming up and hopefully I'll be able to talk about it over Spring Break. including my plans ahead for the year. (^__^)

Skottie Young, Ben Caldwell & ME !
Ok, I know the title seems misleading like I'm doing some special project with those two great artist. HAHHAHA ....... well no........ but I did get to meet this two awesome artist and talk to them in person. I also took my blue pencil and threaten Ben Caldwell to draw a sketch for me!!! LOLx Anyway, this two great awesome guys came to SCAD and did a portfolio review. They both gave me great tips and shared their industry experience. One of the things that Skottie Young said kept me thinking: " It is easy to get into the industry, the issue is, how do you keep going making sure you get work." He also talked about his story, how he got into Marvel. The interesting thing is, the mindset he was in back then and the idea of getting connected with people is something that I truly believe in. And to see the fact that your idol walk through that same path gives me a huge confident boost.
On the other hand, our Kickstarter campaign is still going strong!!! Thanks for spreading the word everyone! I'll be at a panel this Friday at SCAD with my team and a Kickstarter representative talking about (You guess) Kickstarter. I've received many messages and emails about Kickstarter from strangers and friends and it seems like more and more people around me are beginning to notice the advantage and possibilities of the Kickstarter community. Which is a great thing and I always encourage my friends to use the platform because in time to come as all things good, will mellow down.
Ben Caldwell's Sketch!!! Thanks to my Buddy Chi
for offering his sketchbook paper!!!
I finally bought a Lightbox, 12 by 18 inch for tracing purposes.

NOT EVERYTHING IS WHAT IT SEEMS TO BE.
As most of you guys know, our KickStarter Project has reached its initial goal. Much hyped has gone down as I've predicted but the initial success was really a steep climb beyond what most of us can imagined. We've put up a new challenge of $6000 and if we reach that goal, we'll be able to make a better quality book and add in more pages. An idea that I'm starting to doubt and feel bad that I might have lead my team down the wrong path and make them all look bad.
ALL FOR PASSION - I spoke to a few friends and some of them said that I should have planned this goal higher. Now it just seemed like we're trying to scam everyone in putting more money. First of all, I'd like to thank all the current pledges for their great help and secondly, we're NOT asking our current pledges to add more money. It is just an announcement that SHOULD WE CROSS $6000, all those money will go back to the book making it better, more pages and higher quality all AT THE SAME PLEDGE. WE DON'T POCKET ANYTHING out of all this. I was even hoping we can cross over a higher goal so that every backer gets a hard copy book. And that is expensive, there is tax, shipping and lots of misc stuff including intangible costs like bad copies from the printing company, potential lost copies to our backers when we start shipping. These are things that can't be seen.
BEHIND THE SCENES - For those unfamiliar with KickStarter, you can't just go in and change the goal as and when you like it. There are a few comic anthologies in the past (and also currently) that set high goals and fall way short not even reaching the halfway mark of the goal. There is really no hard and easy way or magic number around this. This is our first project and we just want to make a good anthology, great drawings and high quality. I did lots of homework, think about every aspect of the project and work with my great committee to plan all of this. Hopefully our friends and family understand what we're truly trying to achieve. In time to come, when our supporters receive the book, they'll know how much sweat and pain we put into it.
KEEPING IT ALIVE - For the past two days I've been going around clubs pitching our KickStarter idea and getting people to try to know us. Tonight was yet another attempt to get exposure and get people to know about GAME OVER. This will go on for the remaining 26 days and I truly hope we reach our final $10,000 goal. Because me and my team wants to put a great comic anthology in your hands.
On the other hand, my personal work has really suffered and I think I need to get my shit back together and find time to work this all out. Once the KickStarter Drive finishes, I'll put up a post on what I've learn and how you too, can create a kickstarter project. Thanks for reading.
My recent illustration for New York Times.
Never got selected but I've learn a great deal about illustration from this.
