Black & White Series: Society - Fireflies + Updates!!

Hi everyone! I have been incredibly busy in the first two weeks of school! Here's an update of our life!!!

Crazy January : I have been working as Storyboard Artist on an independent film which is scheduled for release in 2013 next year for the past 2 months. I'm getting close to finishing the boards but unfortunately, I can't show you guys anything. One thing I can mention is, the editor on our film is the assistant editor on the movie, HUGO. I am also taking the Society illustration project into the next step and printing them on high quality Canvas. (16 by 20 inch) They look really awesome. (and crazily expensive) This quarter, I need to produce two short comic for our Sequential classes and I can't wait to show you the thumbnails and sketches. There's lots of experiment going on in these two comic in terms of story, art direction and Technic!!! I also have a Great interview of an awesome illustrator lineup for you next week! Not to mention, more Book Reviews! And also, be prepared to see more stuff from the Society project in the coming weeks!!!

*On a side note, I've got a new great used car! (^__^)*

Black & White Series: Society - Happy Ending

The Black & White Series: Society is a body of illustrations reflecting society behavior that I've observe and recreated to inform, reflect and question our knowledge and existence of what is happening around us. This series is slowly coming along near its quarter mark. The illustrations all have its specific voice and message but I haven't yet explained it in my blog. So since this is the last illustration post for the year, I thought I'll share some light on my work. (Or one work at least)

Happy Ending is my take on education, its involvement in the 21st century. The joy of graduation is short lived. These days, many of us take on great debt while pursuing our education, resulting in an endless payment of student loan once we join the work force. Indeed the graveyard for many.

Black & White Series: Society Update

Exactly a year ago, I have a concept of creating a series of Black & White illustrations that reflects the society. Soon, those illustrations went into galleries and I was lucky enough to be able to sell them within three months. It was the first time my illustrations were sold in a public exhibition. From then on, I planned a bigger ambition, " To have my own gallery one day".

I am still doing the illustrations in black and white simply because of my obsession with simplicity, something my idol Steve Jobs adored greatly. A lot of my friends have suggested turning them into color versions but doesn't white contain all the spectrum in color? So today, I thought I'll post one of the many illustrations that I have been secretly hiding.

Hope you like it!

Small Works Exhibition

If you have been following us, you'll probably have read this before regarding our group exhibition. The show opened yesterday and will continue on till dec 30th 2010. This is essentially our first group exhibition with other selected SCAD students and faculty. The gallery ranged from all disciplines and its really amazing to see all these inspiring artists' work. We took a few photos of those that really stood out to us and if you'd noticed, most of the selected students were in their M.F.A studies! [Well except us (^_^) ] So its really an honor to be exhibiting alongside these great students.
